As a senior supply chain professional with over 20 years’ experience managing operations, projects, resources and teams in the UK and across Australia; Paul Armitage has demonstrated a consistent track record for successfully employing best business practices that improve efficiency, reduce operating costs and increase performance.
His comprehensive understanding of logistics and end to end supply chain coupled with this ability to implement leadership practices make Paul a highly regarded senior supply chain leader.
Paul has worked for third party logistics providers across multiple contracts, including consumer, home delivery and automotive, as well as working directly for FMCG, food manufacturing and distribution, oil manufacturing, building products and retail businesses.
In his previous role at leading retail giant Super Retail Group, Paul lead and developed the Group’s Supply Chain Planning function across Australia and New Zealand.
“For the last five years, I have operated in the end to end Supply Chain arena with a specialisation in optimisation and network design,” explains Paul.
When asked about his biggest career achievement to date, Paul names his work in delivering the Supply Chain 2015 programme for Super Retail Group.
“Leading the inventory transition across new distribution centres, whilst ensuring that service continued was a huge accomplishment,” he says.
According to Paul, the most challenging and interesting aspect of the supply chain industry is the continuous evolution in terms of technology, people and customer requirements.
“This is probably one of the things I enjoy the most. I think that if you are open and prepared for these changes, they become less of a challenge.”
At present, Paul believes that the power of data and applied analytics has never been clearer and is a huge area of opportunity.
“We have so much information on hand. The key is to isolate the problem you are trying to solve and then use data to clarify the opportunity and deliver against it,” adds Paul.
Paul says that he is inspired by people who demonstrate determination, belief, integrity, vision, and openness in what they do.
“If these attributes can then be used to work within or lead a team, all the better,” he says.
