Senior Supply Chain leaders connect at industry breakfast forum

Leading project management and advisory firm Siecap hosted a supply chain industry breakfast forum at The Brisbane Club last Friday 5th May with the purpose of sharing market trends and discussing the latest industry news. More importantly, however, the event provided an opportunity for professionals within the sector to come together.

Siecap CEO David Irvine discovered the need for such a forum through his discussions with industry contacts in Brisbane, who felt they were not adequately connected to the local community.

“Numerous supply chain leaders had articulated that they would like to meet industry fellows to understand their roles and challenges, and to hear more about general initiatives that other organisations are working on”, he said.

Supply chain sector senior leaders from companies including Toyota, Caltex, Super Retail Group, Aurizon, BHP Billiton, Origin Energy, Qube, Energex and Super Amart to name but a few, attended the breakfast forum and discussed four key themes.

Firstly, they had a recap on the Queensland market, with a focus on what has changed over the past four months. They noted that business confidence appears to be getting stronger, with an uptick in coal prices equating to more general business activities.

Attendees then put a spotlight on team development in challenging times, through constant communication, a clear sense of purpose, and elevating supply chain to be viewed as a value adding trusted advisor internally.

Discussion then turned to the current gender gap in the sector, cross industry organisation diversity policy and what can be done to attract and retain women for the future.

To conclude the session, Ivan Imparato, Corporate Manager – Procurement and Supply, National Parts and Accessories Division at Toyota Australia added insights into the Kaizen culture, automotive industry outlook and key challenges.

“The forum provided a good platform to share our thoughts with industry peers and hear about the initiatives others have in place to implement ideas from other sectors”, he said.

Siecap would like to thank our valued clients for attending and contributing to the success of the exclusive session. We look forward to hosting another forum in the near future.
