High-Calibre project management expert Shawn Thompson to spearhead Siecap New Zealand’s Growing Business Division

Siecap announced today that it has appointed Shawn Thompson as Executive General Manager, New Zealand. Based in Wellington, Shawn will be responsible for leading and developing Siecap’s business in the New Zealand market to capitalise on the available opportunities.

Most recently, Shawn was seconded from Siecap to Mayur Resources, an ASX listed company with a diverse portfolio of promising assets, where as Chief Operating Officer he led Mayur’s operational growth in Australia and PNG.

Paul Mulder, Managing Director of Mayur and former Managing Director of Hancock Coal and Infrastructure, praised Shawn’s work at the company stating, “We deeply appreciate Shawn’s many contributions to Mayur. He has been responsible for establishing a project discipline into our operational teams that has led to an execution focus and high-performance culture.”

Shawn comes to his new role at Siecap armed with over 30 years’ experience in developing and delivering, from the ground up, power plant/energy, iron and steel, metals, mineral sands and infrastructure projects across the globe

With a wealth of qualifications and industry experience uniquely suited to Siecap’s project-related service offering, Shawn is a highly experienced project director. He is a Chartered Member of Engineering New Zealand, a Fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers, member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, has registration as a professional engineer with the UK Engineering Council and holds a master’s degree in Construction Management from Auckland University of Technology. He has previously held senior roles with Trans-Tasman Resources, Transfield Worley, Beca Carter and Saudi Iron & Steel
